LAKE DISTRICT WINTER WALKING BREAK

A Winter Walking holiday in the Lake District with daily guided walks and the cosy warmth of Rydal Hall to return to.

The Lake District in winter is a really special place, full of beauty and drama: snow-covered lanes, crispy cold mornings, lively waterfalls and morning mist on the lakes.

​

Treat yourself to a break from Christmas preparations and join us for a few days of guided walking through stunning winter scenery based from the comfort of Rydal Hall.  

We'll be there with you, taking care of everything so that you can refresh and recharge before Christmas.

  • Grade 2 : Fairly Easy Walking (see below)

  • Based at Rydal Hall, near Ambleside

  • Ensuite, single occupancy rooms

  • If you wish to extend your stay, additional nights can be arranged.

What's Included: Single occupancy full board (3  x dinner, bed, breakfast and packed lunch), and the services of our walk leaders for this holiday.

Our 'Fairly Easy' walking holidays are aimed at those who are happy to be out walking for 4-5 hours a day in the winter  There will be ample time for breaks and refreshments, and our aim will be to walk at a pace that everyone can easily manage

​

How to get there: Rydal Hall is situated 2 miles north of Ambleside in Cumbria.  Postcode LA22 9LX.  Drive, or take the train to Windermere and complete the journey (6 miles) by taxi or bus from the railway station.  We will supply contact details of taxis and information about bus transfers and the costs of these.

​

Programme: If you can, join us on the arrival day by 2 pm for a half day local walk to get to know your fellow travellers and the environment close by.  For those who are unable to arrive by then, join us for dinner at 6.30 pm, when we will talk through our planned programme.

On days 2, 3 and 4 we will offer guided walking (around 5 hours on day 2 and 3, and 3 hours on day 4) making stops for refreshments and to marvel at the views.
