Peak District Walking Break

(Long weekend November 16-19th 2023) : 4 days of guided walking from Matlock Bath, an easily accessible Victorian spa town in the heart of England.

Where we stay: The New Bath Hotel and Spa is a grand, elegant base for our walks, dating back to the 1800s and with a naturally heated open-air pool. The hotel has 54 bedrooms, a spacious dining room and very comfortable bar.

The walks: This is an ‘easy to moderate’ walking break, which means that we typically cover around 7-10 miles over a day with plenty of breaks and all taken at an easy pace. On half days we’ll cover around 4-5 miles.

Our group: This will be a small, guided group (8 maximum). Especially at this easy-ish grade, we often find that people are on their first walking break and are travelling solo, which makes for a very friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The holiday will be hosted and all 4 walks led by Steve Lee.

Christmas at Chatsworth: (link) The now famous ‘Christmas at Chatsworth House’ display will be open when we are there so if this is something that appeals to you, too, there is an opportunity to slot this into your itinerary once our walking is done for the day. If this is of interest, just let us know and we’ll provide details. (Entry fee is not included, though).

Chatsworth House and estate is at the start and finish point of one of our walks. Our route takes us winding up through the Chatsworth grounds to emerge on the wild moors above Beeley before descending the wooded valley of Beeley Brook.

Nine Ladies stone circle – a highlight of our walk from Rowsley, up over Stanton Moor. This Bronze Age circle is said to represent nine ladies who were turned to stone for dancing on a Sunday (quite right, too!). Our route takes us on to the beautiful village of Birchover, where the pub serves a great cup of coffee.

Hope you can join us! Just follow this link to find a complete itinerary and details of how to book.
