Cold snap a blessing for the daffs

The relatively cold, dry weather over recent weeks has meant that the daffodils have hung on a bit longer this year. Here in Rydal Hall grounds they are looking better than ever. In technical terms, the enzymes that drive the plant's metabolism work more slowly in the cold, which, on the one hand, stunts plant growth, and on the other preserves blooms. But whatever the science behind it, it really makes for a great display at Rydal. https://www.skylinewalking.co.uk/our-venues
