Number 1 of 5: Ivy Crag
This bench, only 220m above sea level and a fifteen-minute walk from civilisation, is one of the best stopping-off places on the round of Loughrigg. It is a little set back and perched above the path, and so is easy to miss, but from its elevated position it gives the most inspiring views across Elterwater Common to the Coniston range in the South-West, a real breath-taking panorama of classic Lakeland scenery.
To get there from Pelter Bridge car park near Ambleside, take the track over towards Loughrigg Tarn and watch out for it up on the right beneath Ivy Crag. Alternatively, go there with us on our Lakes and Waterfalls walking break. Either way, you won’t be disappointed by this very special place. https://www.skylinewalking.co.uk/lakesandwaterfalls
